Following up on our previous visit to Gyeonbokgung and Changgyeonggung, today’s pics are from Changdeokgung. It is adjacent to Changgyeonggung to it’s east and is a few block east itself from Gyeongbokgung. Changdeokgung was the primary residence of the kings so it has more of a homey feel and also includes a large garden(Piwon) to it’s north. It’s also better preserved that the other two palaces, since Changgyeonggung was turned into the city zoo during the Japanese colonial period and much of Gyeonbokgung was destroyed during that time period. I visited this palace alone since madame was laid up with what we later found out was a gall bladder attack.
Technical Note: Again these pictures were shot with a Cannon Sure-Shot Ace and are scanned from the negatives at 7200dpi, producing about a 70mp file. The day was cloudy, so I’ve darkened and added some color to the sky in Photoshop.
All pictures were taken in May 1989.
