A Tease...
I've seen some photos on the IR Facebook page of trees in the snow and I wanted to try my hand at it. So I traveled up to Crystal Lake and there was very little snow up there, even on the mountains(but they're south facing). I decided to drive up to the eastern San Gabriels and try there(I saw some photos on Reddit that showed some snow on one of the peaks). I headed out Monday morning and there was no snow to be seen on the San Gabriels, except a ridge of white at the very top of Mt. San Antonio. But as with the mountains around Crystal Lake, they're facing south. By the time I neared Wrightwood, I could see some snow on the higher elevations and after getting some shots at Inspiration Point(HOW MANY ARE THERE?) at Blue Ridge(including the shot of Mt. San Antonio), I continued on to Mt. Baden-Powell(yes it's named for the Boy Scout guy). I hiked a bit up the trail(actually a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail) and wandered a bit off the trail to a bank of a gully that had a good view of the snow and trees on the slope. I may head back up there on Friday, there was a trail that headed down into the gulch that I wasn't sure where it went, but upon my return home I found it goes to an abondoned mine and old miner's cabin and really want to see those as well.
